After receiving money to confirm intern teachers to permanent terms, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will immediately begin to pay them their new salaries.
According to Julius Ogamba, the cabinet secretary for education, sh 18.7 billion has already been made available for the confirmation of 46,000 intern teachers.
In his speech today, the CS stated that an additional sh 13.5 billion had been made available for the implementation of the phase 2 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for teachers.

A total of 46,000 instructors working as interns are employed by TSC.
In February 2023, 21,550 junior school and 4,000 primary school intern instructors were hired.
In April 2023, 450 intern instructors for secondary schools were hired. In September 2023, 18,000 junior school and 2,000 primary school intern instructors were hired.
A portion of the junior secondary teachers joined Kuppet members in the nationwide walkout, which calls for permanent certification of their employment status among other things.
In order to finalize the contract and increase their pay, the teachers will need to complete out TSC employment letters.
