Starting in 2024, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is going to get rid of spots for the Primary Teachers Certificate Training (PTE), which is also known as the P1 certificate.

This is part of its review of rules for the teaching industry.

Different people in the education field have different thoughts on the above plan.

TSC says that the minimum amount of education needed to become a teacher will now be a diploma.

Also, TSC says that people who want to become teachers should have gotten at least a C- overall, with at least a D+ in math and a C- in English.

TSC is now planning to talk to the Ministry of Education about these changes before presenting them to parliament.

The committee, which is made up of teachers, says that these changes are necessary because of the Constitution and suggestions from the presidential working party on education reforms.

The commission has said that from now on, they will instead hire teachers with college degrees over those with primary education certificates.

If a teacher already has a PTE certificate, they should get a diploma to meet the standards of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

A Diploma in Education is the basic requirement for people who want to become teachers, according to the commission.

TSC also lets people who have finished studies in ECDE, PTE, DTE, BED, DIP ED, and SNE get higher certifications after the fact.

TSC’s new plan says that all teachers who meet the requirements will be able to teach kids in grades 1 through 3 and 4 through 6.

  1. I request TSC to change qualifications for p1 certificate holders so as to do DSTE with C iñ maths and D+ in English because these
P1 teachers are missing the opportunity for
further studies because if of TSC mandate of C in English and D+ in Maths and yet they have PTE certificate
