MP Ndindi Nyoro urges the TSC to schedule the permanent employment of JSS teachers.

It has been urged that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) provide clear guidance about the appointment of intern teachers from Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) to permanent positions with pensions.

Speaking during a Form Four motivational presentation and prayers in Nandi’s Aldai Constituency, National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro announced that Ksh.18.7 billion had been set aside by the government to hire 46,000 JSS teachers.

The chairman of the committee now requests that TSC stop changing the target dates and give clarification on the confirmation dates.

“TSC, please give official communication on when you will confirm the JSS intern teachers into permanent and pensionable terms so that they can actually know and budget on the date,” Nyoro stated.

Leaders questioned the government about the funding mechanism for higher education, claiming that it is unfair to financially disadvantaged students, during the same event.

The leaders also took the occasion to offer their sincere condolences in the wake of the tragic event at Nyeri’s Hillside Endarasha Academy, where an inferno claimed the lives of eighteen students. They also demanded a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the fire.

“The administration has started looking into this. The state have the necessary expertise to piece together what truly transpired. Nyoro said, “I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Hillside Endarasha Academy fraternity.
