Students were questioned about a possible fire attack at a Machakos school.

Police in Athi River, Machakos County, are looking into a possible fire attack at the Lukenya Girls Center of Excellence.

The school is in Kwamboo town, which is in Kinanie location, which is in Athi River subcounty.

Yesterday, several girls were asked about what happened in order to help catch the people who set fire to the Mt. Kenya dorm and caused it to burn down.

Caroline Muema, the principal of the school, called the Athi River police office at 6 a.m. to report a fire or other disturbance.

A police report says that Muema got a call from her matron at Lukenya Girls Centre of Excellence in Kwamboo, Kinanie village, saying that there was a fire in one of the dorms called Mt. Kenya. The fire was likely started by students who were upset that the teachers’ strike had been called off and wanted to go home.

“The principal called for help, and that’s when people from the community and Kinanie police helped put out the fire.” Almost all of the students’ belongings, like clothes, boxes, and beds in the dorm, were burned.

At the time of the fire, the girls were getting ready for school, so police said no one was hurt.

„Police officers are on the scene to look for possible suspects. “The case is still being looked into,” the story says.

The board of directors of the school and people from the Ministry of Education spent most of the day trying to figure out what to do next.

However, it was said that students who had been sent home because they owed money on their school fees were allowed to come back without any problems. This suggests that learning will likely continue despite the event.

The incident happened hours after Machakos School was shut down for good because of troubled kids.

The boys were let go early Monday morning after allegedly causing chaos all night Sunday.

So far, two girls’ schools in Machakos County have had fires that are thought to have been set on purpose.

It caught fire in two dorms at Nyayo Girls Secondary School in Kalama subcounty on Sunday night. Two Form Two girls were arrested in connection with the crime.

The same night, there was also a fire at a third school, Makindu Girls High School in Makueni county. A house with 55 beds for girls was torn down.
